About Rand
I'm the cofounder and CEO of three companies: SparkToro, software that makes audience research accessible to everyone, indie game maker Snackbar Studio, and the vastly superior alternative to Google Alerts: Alertmouse. I'm also the author of Lost and Founder: (2018), prev founded & led Moz (2001-17) and am a frequent keynote speaker on marketing and entrepreneurship topics. But, I'm probably best known as the amateur chef husband of renowned author, Geraldine DeRuiter.

Got my first, early copy of Zero Click Marketing today (the rest ship out Oct 27)... and I've got a question for y'all: What factors go into choosing why you buy/read a business/marketing book? Is it the quality of the strategies? The usefulness of the tactics? Humor and warmth of the writing style? Surprising data or stories that resonate with you? For me, it's almost always about the author and the other work they've put out. I'll read that one blog or a few social posts and immediately rush to order. But I suspect the motivation's different for everyone π€
