“circular bet with a structural leak.” Three and a half years after ChatGPT, long enough to expect the fruit of all this AI transformation. A Bain report this week surveyed 951 large companies. Only 4% saw AI cost savings above 30%. And 44% are funding their next AI investment from savings that have not arrived yet. Tokens, infra, enablement, PoCs: paid for out of future savings AI is supposed to generate.
