The roast
Matt Barker spent 15 years in marketing just to reach a point where his entire business model is teaching people how to write posts about how to write posts. He claims he’s anti-algorithm, yet he’s currently churning out 46 posts a month to chase a 0.21% engagement rate. He’s not a copywriter; he’s a digital hobbyist who’s somehow convinced 190,000 people to watch him paint a fence for a living.
About Matt
Most LinkedIn writing advice is surface level rubbish. Formatting tips. Algorithm hacks. The same recycled stuff. It doesn't REALLY work. And deep down, you already know that. What actually works is simpler (and harder) than any hack: Learning to write from your own Lived Experience, in your own voice, in a way your reader actually wants to read. That's what I teach. -My name's Matt Barker. I've spent 15 years in marketing. I'm not a guru who stumbled into this. I'm someone who built and delivered campaigns inside two £30M/year companies before going solo. I've seen how large-scale marketing works from the inside. I just happen to be particularly good at the writing part. For the last 4 years I've taken that experience onto LinkedIn. 2,600+ posts written. 190,000 followers built.3,000+ people taught.$3M+ in results driven for clients. And I was the ranked #1 creator in the UK for copywriting and content marketing in 2024 and 2025 (via Favikon). Here's what a few of my incredible clients have said after working with me: 💬 "I closed a $40K project during our 30-day engagement. LinkedIn now feels easier — and even fun." — Karen Weinstein, Founder & Principal Consultant 💬 "He didn't just tweak my writing. He taught me how to THINK like a copywriter. I nicknamed him Captain Hook." — Ben Geleit, Personal Performance Coach 💬 "Before working with Matt, I wasted hours staring at a blank screen — despite delivering $2.4B in tech projects. In 4 weeks I grew by 1,500 followers and hit 850,000 impressions." — Michael, Head of Engineering at Amazon- My approach is simple. No fancy decks. No complex frameworks. No jargon. Plain English. Practical methods. I show you, I don't just tell you. I'm a visual, practical learner myself. So wherever I can, I'll demonstrate what I'm teaching rather than lecture you through it. You won't walk away with a pretty PDF you never open. You'll walk away knowing exactly how to write a post, why it works, and how to repeat it without burning out.- There are a few ways we can work together: 1. 1-1 Coaching — for professionals who want to build the skill themselves2. DFY Ghostwriting — for those who want the results without the writing3. Your Next Post — my private community for LinkedIn writers at every level4. Digital Products — workshops, courses and trainings you can start today See exactly what's available and how it all works: 👉 mattbarker.xyz Or just send me a DM quoting "your about section" so i know where you came from :) Speak soon,MB.

I'm getting sick of this now. Coaches cloning themselves with AI. What happened to actually working WITH people? It's gotten out of hand, man! I have no intention on building an AI clone of myself to replace my mentoring and advising work. Here's why (and why I believe it's smarter not to): I get the idea. Build an AI in Claude loaded with your entire brain - frameworks, templates, strategies etc - then build a SaaS that people pay monthly to "access them at scale." It's the move everyone's making. And on paper it's smart because the customers gets infinite you and you put in precisely

I'm seeing some of my linkedin posts with links get almost 2x the amount of link clicks vs likes on the post. This one got 95k impressions. So the reach on it was pretty nuts but it only got 385 likes which feels pretty low for that amount of impressions. Here's the even more nuts bit: The link in the post got 701 clicks. Almost DOUBLE the likes. That tells me something that I think everyone who posts on LinkedIn regularly needs to understand: 90%+ of people do not like or comment on anything. They do not publically engage with things. They read and engage in private in ways no one ca

4 years ago my first client paid me $300 for a weeks work. But on Friday a client paid me $9,000 for 3 months. I said yes to that first client in a HEARTBEAT. I quoted $60 a day with full days expected and I was grateful for it. I know, madness. 4 years ago I'd have said yes to almost anything that paid because getting some money in felt more urgent than getting the right clients in. Took me 6-9 months to realise that was wrong. Now I turn down whole revenue streams of my business. Very profitable ones too. The first real service I offered and got paid good money for was LinkedIn Ghos
