The roast
Matt Wurst describes himself as a catalyst, which explains why his 9,973 followers react to his thirty-eight monthly posts with the enthusiasm of a chemistry experiment that failed to produce any heat. He claims he’s built to manufacture attention, yet he’s currently yielding an engagement rate that wouldn’t clear a background check.
About Matt
I lead companies building the next generation of media, marketing & engagement infrastructure. For 2+ decades, I’ve led growth strategies that turn emerging technology into measurable business outcomes including revenue expansion, deeper engagement, durable customer relationships, and new monetization channels. I operate at the intersection of AI, content, and community, helping organizations move from rented audiences to owned ecosystems. I build teams that execute with urgency, think commercially, and challenge legacy playbooks. Not innovation theater. Operational innovation that drives adoption and economic value. My bias is simple: attention is the scarcest asset in business. Companies that manufacture it responsibly win. If you're building something category-defining, modernizing your go-to-market, or rethinking how consumers engage in an AI-shaped world, we will likely have a productive conversation.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆: Fourth of July in the U.S. Our 250th birthday. Feels like it should be a much bigger deal, right? And yet... it's not. 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯: Our current federal government lacks the operational and leadership skills to organize anything at this scale, and lacks the credibility or interest to unite the country behind what could have been a massive celebration. 𝘈𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯: Brands have mostly stayed away too, perhaps afraid to wade into anything that coule even remotely invite criticism. So it's been quiet there, too, save for the usual car

I've sat on all sides of agency ownership - small indie, acquired agency, big holdco leadership, scrappy startup, acquired agency acquired by an even bigger holdco... so yeah, this one hits home. Micky Ogando, Founder of Bakery Agency, admitted something most founders never will: he never wanted to run the company. He'd rather be in the bullpen making ideas and hand the wheel to someone better at operating it. Good news/bad news... Bakery keeps winning, which makes "I should step back" a tough argument to win. I said it to him on the mic and I'll repeat it here: "𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦

𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗠𝘆 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 22): Gloria Sesso. She never worked in marketing a day in her life. And yet she may have shaped my career trajectory more than just about anyone, even if it was VERY indirect. Mrs. Sesso was my 11th and 12th grade AP American History and Government teacher as well as the coach of our state champion and national runner-up "We the People" Constitutional debate team. Whether it's my love of history, my passion for civics, my respect for preparation and presentation, or my penchant for debate, I have the great Mrs. Ses
