The roast
Laura claims she’s revolutionizing space travel, yet her engagement rate suggests that even the astronauts are ignoring her DMs to avoid eating the freeze-dried homework. She’s built a portfolio that spans from retail snacks to military rations, which is just a fancy way of saying her business model is hoarding pantry items that literally nobody wants to touch until there's an apocalypse.
About Laura
Freeze drying is a narrow technology. But what you can do with it turns out to be surprisingly wide. We started with healthy snacks. Then came a non-melting ice cream line built on our own patent. Then military rations. Then a collaboration with the European Space Agency on food for astronauts. None of it was planned as a portfolio strategy — it followed the logic of the technology and where it was actually needed. That is how Super Garden ended up working across retail, defence procurement, expeditions, and space missions. More than 40 countries. Three brands. One core process. S.T.A.R.M.Y is our special purpose line — dual-use food developed for defence, extreme environments, and space applications. STAR CANDIES is the non-melting ice cream. SUPER GARDEN covers everyday freeze-dried nutrition. The common thread is food that works without refrigeration, without complex preparation, and without a short shelf life. I think a lot about what food needs to do when normal infrastructure is gone. That question keeps leading somewhere interesting. Named SME Women Leader 2024 by Mastercard. EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women 2025. Member of the EU-Japan Business Round Table and EU-KSA Chamber. Most food is made for shelves. We build food for situations where shelves do not exist.

There is a corner of FoodTech that alternative protein has barely touched, and it is not a small one. Mountaineering demands some of the highest protein intake of any leisure activity, yet the category has stayed almost entirely animal-based, for reasons that have nothing to do with trend and everything to do with what a body can tolerate at altitude. This month, I dig into why that is, along with a few things that surprised me along the way. Full story below. 👇

If I ask you about space agencies, NASA is probably the first thing that comes to mind. Maybe ESA if you follow a European astronaut. But there are close to eighty government space agencies running today, and only six, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, European Space Agency - ESA, Roscosmos Russia, CNSA China, ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization, and JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, can actually launch and land something on another body in space. The rest work on satellites, earth observation, and building national expertise, because space stopped being a two
