Oracle just told the sec, in writing, that ai is why it’s cutting jobs. Most companies spend an entire earnings call insisting ai only helps workers. oracle’s fiscal 2026 10-k, filed this week, says the adoption of ai “has resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to our workforce.” Here’s the math behind that sentence. oracle’s headcount went from 162,000 to 141,000 in a year. that’s roughly 21,000 people, about 13% of the company, gone. severance and restructuring costs hit $1.84 billion, almost five times what they spent the year before. some of the deepest cuts landed in oracle
