The roast
Cornel claims he wants to empower the blind, which explains why he posted three times last month to a crowd of 41,000 people who are effectively ignoring him. He’s spent his entire life collecting Hall of Fame trophies just to make sure nobody misses the fact that he exists.
About Cornel
I was born in a family where my parents and sister have disabilities. Growing up, I didn’t have much, but I was curious. I started reading at 3 and learned programming at 7. At 15, I founded Romania’s first high-school Robotics Club, which under my 3 years as its leader, received over 70 international awards. I launched my first two companies in high school, and one of them paid for my education at Jacobs University Bremen – the place where I first came up with the idea of “glasses for the blind”. After operating as Head of Innovation at Continental Automotive Systems, one of world’s largest automotive manufacturers, I founded .lumen, a startup that creates glasses which empower the blind to live a better life. Today I’m an entrepreneur, a speaker, and an inventor. For my work, Forbes awarded me as the first Romanian in 30 Under 30 Europe, JCI as the first Romanian in the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World program, and JA as the first Romanian in the Global Business Hall of Fame. I believe in building things that help. I believe in making meaning, not money.

I grew up wishing I could travel. But everyone in my family has disabilities, and money was tight, so the world felt very far away. That changed when I was 14 and became financially independent. 70+ countries later, I’m still letting the world surprise me. Where would you take the dotLumen Glasses?

Life on the road: 5 countries in 5 days. Last week I was in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland & Romania. From speaking at the European Parliament in Brussels, invited by its Vice-President Victor NEGRESCU, to Hello Tomorrow in Amsterdam with the EIC - European Innovation Council. No sleep for the wicked. #MadeinEU #TechForGood #AssistiveTech
