The roast
Adam built an AI agent that acts like a mentor looking over an engineer's shoulder, which is the perfect product for a guy who spent eight years perfecting the technology to automate the actual work of being a human. He’s essentially a professional fan-fiction writer for mechanical engineering textbooks.
About Adam
Outside of family, nothing meant more to my dad than being an engineer. When I lost him to cancer, I decided to go all in on my engineering career in his memory. During my degree, I learned firsthand that the way engineers work together and make decisions is broken – countless hours spent in design reviews trying to make complex decisions with disconnected tools, scattered feedback, and missing context. It was clear the process was falling apart under the complexity of modern engineering, so we started CoLab to fix design review. Over the last 8 years, we’ve powered engineering at some of the world’s most important companies, including Ford, Lockheed Martin, GE Appliances, Johnson Controls, and Schaeffler – helping teams run design reviews effectively, codesign with suppliers, and speed up the decisions behind next-generation products. In October 2025, CoLab raised a $72M Series C after the breakout launch of AutoReview, our first AI agent, which now has 48,000+ engineers on the waitlist and dozens of engineering enterprises using it today, saying it’s “like having a mentor over their shoulder.” Now we’re building EngineeringOS to connect people, data, and AI so design teams can review technical data more effectively and make the thousands of decisions behind every product with speed and clarity. By unifying product data with the knowledge behind past design decisions, CoLab is uniquely positioned to build AI agents that catch errors, help teams move faster, and preserve the expertise that’s disappearing as experienced engineers retire. We’re building the next wave of AI agents and partnerships to help engineering teams collapse design cycles from months to hours. At CoLab, our mission is simple: help engineering teams deliver life-changing products to the world years sooner.

Over the last two quarters we've been working on a few new things that have made CoLab now my #2 daily tool behind Slack. Initially I switched to using these tools to dogfood our own product so we got something in customers hands that I already loved myself. Now these new tools have replaced how I used virtual whiteboards, documentation tools, most of the things I did with ChatGPT and several other daily use cases. Every doc I write, every ideation session we do, every roadmap, every plan and much more now is created and lives in CoLab. As much as I love these tools - these are purpose bui

Last October we lost the heart and soul of our team, Terri Lynn Coole (TLC). This weekend magic happened at the first ever TLC Memorial Tournament. TLC loved sports - she was talented, fiercely competitive and always brought the best vibes. Her 12 yr old son (who grew up alongside the company) joined our team as our team captain and made big catches with glove the entire weekend. From the first pitch of the tourney in the rain, to the final catch Saturday night you could feel there was something special. The CoLab Purple team pulled off a 6-0 weekend to win the tournament after a close ga
