The roast
Alexander Atzberger claims his platform has experimentation in its DNA, yet he spends his entire career conducting a long-term experiment to see how many buzzwords he can shove into a LinkedIn bio before the human brain rejects the paragraph as spam.
About Alexander
Every marketing software vendor now claims to be AI-native. Most are AI-decorated. A new stack is forming underneath enterprise marketing: foundational LLMs at the base, an AI marketing platform that orchestrates agents and workflows, a digital experience platform that turns content into experiences, and the channels - web, email, commerce, and increasingly agentic search - where customers actually meet your brand. The vendors who treat this as a feature roadmap will lose to the ones who treat it as architecture. I run Optimizely because I believe the suite still wins - and that customers should be able to buy it the way they actually work. Composable by choice. Consolidation over complexity. AI in the foundation, not painted on top. In outcome terms: we let marketers and digital teams create and optimize campaigns in hours instead of days and weeks, measure every AI decision in revenue lift instead of asserting it, and free marketing teams from waiting on IT to translate intent into experience. Our agent orchestration platform for marketing is the agent layer where marketers actually direct AI. Underneath, our composable DXP - content, experimentation, personalization, analytics - is the system of record for what works. The receipts: hundreds of the world's leading brands run on Optimizely, including Salesforce, KPMG, and Shell. We've powered more experiments than any DXP, and are recognized as leaders across 12 Forrester Waves and Gartner Magic Quadrant including for DXP, CMS, CMP, personalization, and experimentation. Where this goes next: marketing teams won't be judged by how many tools they own. They'll be judged by how fast they learn, how well they adopt to the changing buyer behaviors, how accountably they spend, and how well they orchestrate AI agents across emerging channels - including agentic search and answer-engine optimization. The marketers who win will be the ones with the best feedback loops. We're building the platform that gives them one.

Controversial take: AI makes the best marketers even better marketers, but if you are not great at your job, AI won’t help you much. The same applies to engineering, sales, and other functions. I see it all the time. When I look at the best performers and the most brilliant folks they haven’t really changed, and in some ways the distribution got wider. Why? Because AI is great at working through tasks, but the actual work - the decisions, the courage, the intuition, the experience - remains deeply human. The same applies to processes. AI doesn’t fix a badly designed process it just scales

The AI model wars have taken an unexpected turn with real implications for enterprise use. The number of models - frontier or open-source - is expanding so quickly that an increasing number of tasks in an enterprise don't need a frontier model. It reminds me a lot of the early days of PCs when every Intel chip release was a big deal, and then at one point you stopped caring as the latest chip releases no longer expanded your use cases. This point is being reached much faster with AI models, and it puts a big question mark next to Anthropic and OpenAI's IPOs as they both push the frontier (prob
