The roast
Ryan Gavin claims he built businesses at scale, but his career trajectory looks like he’s just trying to find the one company that hasn't realized he’s a background character yet. He spent his time at Microsoft managing the Surface, which explains why he treats his LinkedIn profile like a tablet nobody actually wants to touch.
About Ryan
The hallmarks of my 25+ year career center on the meaningful market impacts I have delivered and the incredible people and teams I have had the opportunity to develop and lead. I am an accomplished business leader and operator with in-depth experience in all aspects of go-to-market. I have built and run new businesses at scale. I have established new product and industry categories and spearheaded numerous business turnarounds. I have built exceptional scale teams and led them to achieve remarkable results. As the Chief Growth Officer at Convoy, I drove the $650M+ marketplace business, expanding margins by over 2000 basis points while simultaneously lowering our cost to serve, improving customer experience, and growing share-of-wallet with top shippers. Prior to Convoy, I was a critical leader in establishing the AI/ML category for AWS, building the business and go-to-market (GTM) function largely from scratch, leading to an exponential increase in portfolio adoption and a growing thought leadership position amongst developers. At Microsoft, I owned the multibillion-dollar Surface commercial business, delivering double-digit growth and bringing the world’s #2 search engine, Bing, to profitability with over 5 billion monthly searches. My leadership extends across business, technology, and go-to-market, bringing engineering and product partners together to deliver results and grow organizational capability. I am passionate about delivering scaled market impacts. I am passionate about coupling relentless execution with disruptive strategies. And I am passionate about developing amazing teams and exceptional people.
