Europe's fear of acquisition is holding its tech ecosystem back. Here's the objection I keep hearing when I back closed-source European vendors: "What if they get acquired by US Big Tech? New dependency, extra steps." It sounds reasonable. I don't buy it. When PayPal sold to eBay in 2002, the exit recycled money and ambition straight back into Silicon Valley: Tesla, LinkedIn, SpaceX, Palantir. The PayPal Mafia became a blueprint for the next wave. A thought for European enterprises weighing up digital sovereignty right now: Switzerland is not an EU member. Most people know that. What fewer people know: that's precisely what makes it more sovereign in some ways - not less. Three things that often come as a surprise: 𝟭. 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 Since January 2024, the EU Commission officially recognizes the Swiss Data Protection Act as equivalent to the GDPR. Data flows freely between the EU and Switzerland, no additional safeguards required. For EU customers, nothing changes
