The roast
Josh dropped sixty grand at NYU to learn human psychology, only to use it to convince six thousand people that a guy whose business is called The Creative Lab couldn't brainstorm a name that sounds less like a community college science project.
About Josh
Most ads suck. Here's how I change that with a simple 3-step process: 1. Research: In-depth customer and competitor research 2. Evaluate: Rapidly test creative and messaging 3. Scale: Iterative improvements in order to scale But the secret sauce? Infusing my ads with proven psychology tactics. You see platforms change and creative trends come and go. But there’s one thing that does stand the test of time: Human Psychology. Understanding how humans think and act. Knowing what makes us think like, click, share, and buy. That’s what’s most important to know as a marketer or founder trying to grow your business. And that's why I'm so obsessed with continuing to learn and leverage psychology in my marketing. A little bit about myself: I completed a Master's at New York University where I wrote my 60-page thesis paper on marketing psychology and virality. Previously, I worked in the music industry at the global marketing agency, WMA. During this time, one of my campaigns was recognized globally by the publication Music Ally as one of 2020's "Best Music Marketing Campaigns." Since starting my own business in 2021, I've had the opportunity to work with: 1. A top 10 global podcast (YouTube and Meta ads) 2. Award-winning kids' app (creative strategy) 3. An ecommerce brand that showed enough profitable growth to receive funding from Dragon's Den (creative strategy + media buying) 4. A fast-growing education platform (creative strategy, media buying, CRO, influencer strategy) 5. Award-winning musicians (organic social media strategy + influencer strategy) 6. Professional chef + TV host (organic social media strategy) In that time I've helped generate well over $7,500,000 in attributable revenue and countless millions of views. I enjoy working across a broad range of industries and value working with smart highly ambitious people. Message me to get in touch!

Most business owners look for the one winning ad. But Meta is looking for a portfolio of ads. Because your customers aren't all in the same place. Some don't know they have a problem in the first place. Some don't know how to fix their problem. Some are comparing solutions. Some already know your product. Some are waiting for the right offer. Yet most brands create ads for only one of those groups. And are missing out on potential customers. But the best marketers aren't creating just one perfect ad. They're creating a diverse set of ads. Each one speaking to different awareness levels.

Facebook/Meta ads have been dying since 2012. Some notable "deaths": • Ad fatigue • iOS 14 update • TikTok stealing budgets • Apple's privacy crackdown • Organic reach declining • "CPMs are too high now" • AI generating ads for free • Influencer marketing taking over • Everyone's "moving to Google" • Cookies disappearing • Gen Z "doesn't use Facebook" And now, the biggest one yet: Andromeda. Meta's new ad delivery system killed manual targeting completely. Interests, lookalikes, demographics, all of it is now treated as a suggestion, not a setting. The algorithm reads your creative and dec

Most marketing is BORING 🥱 Here's how to fix that with copywriting that doesn't suck: Study comedy. Because comedians take everyday things and retell them in a novel way. And that’s what the best copywriters do too. They don’t write more. They write sharper. Instead of: "Our new AI tool increases productivity by 30%," They may say: "You’ll leave the office 2 hours earlier so you can finally catch your kids' soccer game.” Or: "You'll leave the office 2 hours earlier so you can spend 2 hours deciding what not to watch on Netflix." So how do you do this practically? Take more time to thi
