The roast
Dan is the kind of guy who lists "Dev + Marketing" in his headline to make sure people know exactly which two departments he’s currently ruining. His company is called Zing, which is fitting, because it’s the exact sound his engagement rate makes when it hits the floor.
About Dan
I’ve been in the entrepreneurship world since 2011, first building my own businesses, then helping others grow theirs. In 2019, I expanded into software development, creating the tools and systems founders need to scale. In 2022, I launched Zing with a simple vision: to help brands scale by providing the marketing and software development support they need. Flexible, results driven, and truly collaborative. Since then, we’ve helped brands like: Ferguson Farms, achieved 100 percent growth in just one year Joeydolls, boosted ROAS by 500 percent in four months Eight Hours, increased ROAS by 69 percent in four months Worked alongside Noah Kagan at AppSumo Our clients say it best: “I was impressed. I almost never make these testimonials, but Dan and Zing are the team I will keep recommending.” – Noah Kagan, AppSumo “It works really well to have an in-house team we can scale up and down with.” – Daniel Black, Glass Media “With Zing, it’s good news all around and above all else we’ve got happy customers.” – Mike Ferguson, Ferguson Farms We also host a podcast, Think Big with Dan and Qasim, where we share insights on business, growth, and building something bigger. Hot take: AI doesn't make you a faster builder. It makes you a faster liar to yourself. Here's what I mean. A founder showed me their "MVP" last month. Looked great. Ran smooth. Had three different auth implementations, a plaintext password in a try/except block, and 47 TODOs scattered across files that hadn't been touched in six weeks. AI generated all of it in a weekend. The founder shipped in a week. Everyone high-fived. By month three, they had real users. By month four, they had a breach. A brand came to me with a 4x ROAS on their ad spend. Solid, they said. Could be better. They were right. But not because they needed more traffic. After we cleaned up their checkout flow and aligned their product page pricing with what the cart was actually charging, their effective ROAS on the same spend went to 5.2x. Same traffic. Same budget. The transaction side was just broken in a way nobody had looked at. The discovery was doing its job. The rest of the store wasn't.
